2. a) (of lengths or numbers) having no common measure or number of which all the given lengths or numbers are integral multiples. √2 and 3 are incommensurable numbers because there is no third number which divides both of them evenly. A foot and a meter are incommensurable since the ratio between them must be expressed as an irrational number. b) = irrational. (Cf.irrational)
